Mireille Kallassy est professeur titulaire (HDR) en biologie moléculaire et cellulaire à la Faculté des Sciences de l'Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth, Département des Sciences de la Vie et de la Terre. Elle dirige une équipe de recherche au sein du Laboratoire de génomique fonctionnelle et de biodiversité de l'unité de recherche « Environnement, génomique et protéomique » : Environnement, génomique et protéomique « UR-EGP ». Universitaire accomplie et innovatrice, elle a mené des initiatives dans l'enseignement supérieur, notamment en établissant des programmes de maîtrise avancée en technologie industrielle et une maîtrise en ingénierie CMI, en encadrant des start-ups et en cofondant la banque libanaise de tissus humains et une startup pour la production de biopesticides. Elle est experte assermentée auprès des tribunaux libanais dans les domaines de la santé et de la microbiologie. Titulaire de deux brevets et auteur de nombreuses publications scientifiques, elle a supervisé et encadré de nombreux doctorants, encourageant l'innovation et l'excellence académique dans son domaine. Elle a reçu de prestigieuses récompenses, notamment le prix d'excellence en recherche scientifique 2016 décerné par l'Association libanaise pour l'avancement des sciences (LAAS) et le prix de l'innovation décerné par le Centre pour l'innovation et la technologie de l'Institut libanais de recherche industrielle (2013) pour ses travaux novateurs dans le domaine de la production de biopesticides.
