Econometrics Applied to Research

This course aims to apply the econometric methods learned in the first semester to real statistical data, using economic and financial data platforms such as those of the IMF, the UN, the OECD, the Central Administration of Statistics (Lebanon), INSEE (France), the CAC40, the NY Stock Exchange, the S&P 500, etc. Students will be able to apply econometric methods to economic theories and/or to concrete economic and financial issues at both the microeconomic and macroeconomic levels. They will be required to submit a short research paper that includes an econometric component, which will also be presented orally. In particular, they will need to demonstrate their ability to use Excel, R and Gretl to present their results.
