Dear international students,
It is with great regret that I am announcing that Saint-Joseph University of Beirut is suspending new scholarships under the “Scholarships for International Students” program.
Launched in 1998, this program has allowed outstanding, young students coming mostly from Arab countries, Africa and Europe to integrate our master programs, aspiring to combine academic excellence with the rich complexity of our beloved Lebanon. They have contributed to boost our international openness while benefiting from select conditions to undertake their studies.
Unfortunately, the crisis in Lebanon that has prevailed for years and years has gained significant momentum since Autumn 2019 and has further escalated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
USJ finds itself obliged to make hard choices in order to ensure the continuity of its mission for the benefit and the service of Lebanon, which needs it now more than ever.
Until better days dawn, international students wishing to integrate USJ will always be welcome in the framework of international student mobility, international dual PhD degrees or research stays and visits in our centers.
May hope always be our guide to continue moving forward with determination and serenity.
Prof. Salim DACCACHE, s.j.
Rector of Saint-Joseph University of Beirut
