Assessment of Research
The quality of research is ensured through various levels:
- The Delegate for Research coordinates research within the institution they represent and ensures its execution in coordination with the coordinator of each scientific committee and the Vice-Rector for Research.
- The Dean submits approved projects to the Vice-Rectorate for Research.
- The Research Ethics Committee ensures compliance with ethical standards.
- The Campus Scientific Research Commission evaluates research projects, monitors progress, and ensures interdisciplinarity and research quality.
- The Research Board evaluates and approves research projects as well as research structures.
- The Directors of Doctoral Schools ensure the quality of supervision for doctoral candidates.
A comprehensive study of the research evaluation process at the University was launched in January 2024, with the participation of the Delegates for Research from the Campuses. Research structures will be evaluated according to a four-year plan. Research projects, especially those funded by the Research Board, will be assessed in terms of scientific output, valorization, and socio-economic impact. An update to the research IT platform will be carried out during the transfer of data from the Research Board to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, USJ’s new resource management system. Research projects from Hôtel-Dieu de France (HDF) will be integrated into this system to centralize research conducted at both USJ and HDF. The update of the platform will facilitate the evaluation of projects funded by the Research Board as well as those from HDF.
