The Logo

STRUCTURE

In 2016, Saint Joseph University rebranded and changed its logo. The new logo comprises two main elements: the prominently displayed acronym USJ in capital letters and a square housing a graphic representation of the banyan tree, a historic centennial tree from the University’s Medical Sciences Campus botanical garden.

MEANING

The logo visually embodies our University’s current mission, shaped by years of growth and enriched by the Lebanese academic and socio-cultural experience. It reflects our extensive achievements in advancing higher education.

Within this new logo, the tree trunk symbolizes various facets:
• the robust foundation of education at USJ,
• the shared connection to one source: USJ,
• fostering unity and creativity in individuals it seeks to educate,
• embracing the diversity of academic fields and campuses
• and anchoring in the rich soil of our capital, Beirut.

The vines represent our commitment to academic, socio-cultural, and political pluralism. The upward pull of the tree trunk signifies a collective dedication. As the University educates and empowers its students and over 100,000 alumni, it calls upon them to be catalysts for social transformation and progress.
