Safety Improvement and Crash Cost Saving by Using Intelligent Transportation System

The main objective of this thesis is to define and design a new ITS, suitable, applicable and cheap for developing countries in order to mitigate traffic accidents. In order to achieve its goal, this study will start by analyzing different Intelligent Transportation Systems with the aim of getting sufficient information to design a new ITS system specialized for traffic accidents. The next step is to design a suitable ITS treatment that can enhance mobility, safety and environmental development within affordable fees, by using Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks system (VANETS) and based on computer simulations. Finally, an evaluation of the proposed ITS on safety will be carried out.
