Structured Generative AI as a Critical Co-Pilot

Description: This practice integrates generative AI tools into machine learning and AI teaching as a critical co-pilot, not as a shortcut or substitute for student reasoning. Students use AI tools to ask better questions, compare explanations, debug Python code, explore model choices, test assumptions, and generate alternative solution paths. However, every AI-generated output must be checked against course concepts, empirical evidence, and the student’s own reasoning.
The core method is a transferable cycle: Prompt -> Critique -> Validate -> Defend. Students may prompt an AI system, but they must critique the answer, validate it through theory or experiment, and defend the final decision orally or in writing.
