This course is designed to cultivate proficiency in translating diverse legal texts from Arabic into English. It equips students with the ability to comprehend the content, study the structure, and effectively convey both the substance and form of legal documents in the target language. The overarching goal is not only to enhance skills related to understanding and communicating the message of a text but also to master the specialized language intrinsic to legal discourse. It delves into normative texts, doctrinal writings, and case law, with a specific focus on contracts, company statutes, court decisions, and rulings. Through this course, students will develop the aptitude to discern both traditional and contemporary iterations of specialized legal language. They will also learn to identify various types of legal texts and their respective components, fostering the ability to tackle the translation challenges inherent in these materials.
