Mobility Dimensions of Crises / Migration and Development

This course discusses the mobility dimensions of crises, which arise when people move, or require support to move, due to a conflict, armed violence, disaster or health epidemic. What are the key concepts and priorities of the mobility dimensions of crises? Who are the populations and communities affected? Who bears the primary responsibility to respect, protect and fulfil the rights of crisis-affected persons? This course will focus on how migration can contribute to development in a sustainable way. However, a holistic understanding of the nexus is indispensable to turn current migration trends into engines of sustainable development. So, what are the links between migration and sustainable development? How can States mainstream migration into their development planning?
