Hearing Impairment: Knowledge and Interventions

This course unit offers a comprehensive approach to hearing impairment, combining knowledge and intervention strategies. It raises awareness of the various aspects of this condition, including its main causes in children and adults, medical and surgical treatments, and its personal, family, and social implications. Emphasis is placed on early screening and the importance of coordinated multidisciplinary intervention. The course also introduces students to the specific educational needs of children with hearing impairments and prepares them to design inclusive teaching strategies and appropriate pedagogical adaptations.
