“Intensification of Biomolecule Extraction from Lebanese Cannabis sativa Using IR and IVDV Techniques: Fractionation and Biological Characterization for Industrial Applications”

Description :

This project investigates Infrared-assisted extraction (IRAE) and Intensification of Vaporization by Decompression to Vacuum (IVDV) for the recovery of bioactive biomolecules from Lebanese Cannabis sativa. IRAE will be applied directly to plant material in solvent suspension, whereas IVDV will be used as a thermo-mechanical pretreatment prior to conventional extraction (maceration or Soxhlet). The impact of both approaches on extraction yield, mass transfer enhancement, compound stability, and phytochemical composition will be systematically assessed. Extracts will be fractionated and biologically evaluated for antioxidant, antimicrobial, and cosmetic-related activities to support scalable and sustainable industrial valorization strategies.
