Evaluation of the Effects of Different Dentine Surface Preparation Methods On Shear Bond Strength with Emax Ceramic Restorations : An In Vitro Study

Description :

This study aims to assess the shear bond strength of indirect dental restorations (Emax ceramic, Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein), comparing four different dentin surface preparation methods: the conventional etching protocol following the total etch technique, the conventional protocol of the self-etch technique, preparation by sandblasting, and preparation by laser application. This study involves an in-vitro evaluation of shear bond strength on four groups of extracted teeth. The procedures include the preparation of the dentin surfaces of the extracted teeth, each group undergoing one of the four preparation techniques mentioned above, the bonding of Emax ceramic pieces on these surfaces, the sectioning of the tooth/restoration compound , the testing of the bond strength in a universal testing machine, and the calculation of the bond strength (bond strength in MPa = max load at failure/ cross sectional area).
