Clinical and Histologic Assessment of Allograft Use in Guided Bone Regeneration: A Pilot Study

This pilot study aims to evaluate the biological and dimensional outcomes of lateral guided bone regeneration (GBR) using a novel allograft bone substitute (MedPark Co., Ltd., South Korea). Following tooth loss, alveolar ridge deficiencies frequently compromise ideal implant placement, making ridge augmentation procedures necessary. Among the available regenerative materials, allografts offer several clinical advantages; however, limited data are available regarding the histological behavior and volumetric stability of newly introduced allograft formulations. The present study will assess the performance of S1-Allo (MedPark Co., Ltd., South Korea), a moldable allograft bone substitute, used for guided bone regeneration. The primary outcome will be the histological evaluation of newly formed vital bone following allograft placement. The secondary outcome will involve radiographic assessment of horizontal hard-tissue dimensional changes using volumetric analysis at 5 and 12 months post-operatively. Through this approach, the study seeks to contribute to the existing knowledge on allograft-based GBR and to provide preliminary evidence regarding the regenerative potential and dimensional stability of this material in implant dentistry.
