Alveolar ridge preservation using xenografts vs. allografts with a free gingival graft as a socket seal: a randomized clinical trial.

Description :

This randomized controlled trial aims to compare the use of a free gingival graft as a socket sealing method using both xenografts and allografts as a socket fill. Several intra-oral scans will be taken of the included patients (before the surgery, immediately post-operatively, at suture removal in three weeks, and before implant placement at 4 months); as well as CBCT scans (one post-operatively and one at 4 months). This will allow us to compare three-dimensional volumetric bone changes in the two groups, as well as linear bone changes (horizontal ridge width and vertical ridge reduction). In addition, soft tissue thickness will be assessed by superimposing the STL (Standard Tessellation Language) files and the DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) files obtained of each patient. The results of the proposed hypothesis are verified and interpreted after statistical analysis.
