Accuracy and success rate of two infrazygomatic mini screw insertion methods: Guided and free hand-a split mouth prospective clinical study
Description :
Most orthodontic mini-implant guides are suitable for the insertion of interradicular mini implants, and few templates are designed and used for the infrazygomatic crest zone. In this study, we considered the structure of the infrazygomatic crest and developed a surgical guide that can assure the insertion of the mini implant in an optimal position and evaluated its accuracy and clinical effects. Once the patient is referred to the department of Oral Surgery for the placement of infrazygomatic mini implants an intraoral scan and a CBCT will be performed, that we will need to plan the mini implants placement. Random insertions methods will be assigned to both sides and the surgical guide will be printed for the concerned side. A post-operative CBCT is needed to assess the accuracy of the surgical guide and the follow up will reveal its clinical effectiveness.
