Institutional Assessment
Institutional assessment allows the University to check the effectiveness of its operations and the adequacy of its resources and services in order to achieve its mission and attain its goals.
This culture of assessment aims for continuous improvement. It covers the following aspects:
• Assessment of teaching
• Assessment of Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) attained by students
• Review of academic programs
• Assessment of research
• Assessment of academic and non-academic entities (institutions, research structures, administrative units, etc.)
• Assessment of the performance of academic and non-academic staff
Institutional assessment generally involves an annual self-assessment and, sometimes, an external assessment conducted by evaluation or accreditation agencies. Benchmarking can also be applied, by comparing the results of performance or ranking indicators of the University or a given entity with those of another university.
The participation of internal and external stakeholders is essential to ensure the success of these assessment processes.
