The ERL reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences. It is governed by a director whose mandate is renewable every three years. Upon the recommendation of the Dean, the appointment of the Research Laboratory Director is endorsed by the Faculty Council.
The Research Laboratory Director works with a scientific committee that has been established by the Dean. As such, the Research Laboratory Director meets on a regular basis with the committee members who are in charge of the various research axes to ensure that the laboratory is operating in a smooth manner while being highly productive.
The Educational Research Laboratory is also made up of the following members:
- Supervisors of the various research axes
- Independent researchers and guest researchers
- Fsedu teachers-researchers
- Student-researchers (Masters and Doctorate candidates)
- Support staff
Role of the Research Laboratory Director
The Research Laboratory Director assumes a dual role that of supervising the researches and related projects on one hand and conducting studies on the other.
Research Priorities
- Propose and conduct research that revolves around the areas of expertise of the laboratory.
- Assess the internal and external research needs in terms of topics, expertise, or educational development.
- Identify possible improvements in the research processes to optimize the laboratory’s performance, and invest this improvement in designing innovative research programs.
- Analyze the costs, budgets, and plans necessary for the successful achievement of the various research objectives.
Team Management
- Facilitate regular meetings with the various researchers of the laboratory in order to assess the state of progress of the research.
- Validate with the latter the main successes and obstacles encountered and decide on the solutions to be put in place (additional means / resources, methodological approaches, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with the various procedures and methodologies required to obtain reliable results.
- Evaluate individually and collectively the performance of the laboratory teams.
Internal and external communication of the laboratory's work
- Endorse and promote the various scientific publications of the laboratory’s researchers.
- Publish scientific articles.
- Participate in scientific events: seminars, conferences, forums, round tables ...
- Respond to internal and external requests for laboratory work: reviews, meetings with other departments, interviews with scientific journals, etc.
- Activate the policy of partnerships: links with private or public laboratories, with organizations promoting research, etc.
Role of the person in charge of a research axis
The person in charge of a research axis has to:
- Set up a database for the various research carried out by his team.
- Participate in seminars, conferences, and other scientific events.
- Be up-to-date with the most recent trends in education research by regularly publishing articles and research related news bulletins.
- Find sources of funding for research projects.
The Educational Research Laboratory is constantly renewing itself in order to increase its output and visibility, both nationally and internationally, from a collaborative perspective to serve the field of education.
