Prof. Nabil Nemer obtained his Diploma in Agricultural Engineering and B.Sc. in Agriculture from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon, in 1995, followed by a Master of Science in Plant Protection (Entomology) from AUB in 1997. He earned his Ph.D. in Biology, specializing in Entomology and Insect Chemical Ecology, from Université Paris-Sud XI in collaboration with the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA), France, in 2008. Following several years of research and academic appointments at the American University of Beirut, he joined the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) in 2011 and was promoted to Full Professor in 2022. During his academic career at USEK, he held several leadership positions, including Chairman of the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, Coordinator of the Agricultural Engineering Program, Associate Dean of Doctoral Studies for Science and Technology, and Director of the Higher Center for Research. In September 2026, Prof. Nemer joined the School of Mediterranean Agricultural Engineering (ESIAM) at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) as Full Professor. Prof. Nemer's research focuses on entomology, insect chemical ecology, integrated pest management, forest health, biodiversity conservation, biological control, and the impacts of climate change on agricultural and forest ecosystems. He has led and participated in numerous national and international research projects funded by organizations including FAO, UNDP, UNESCO, CNRS, AUF, EBRD, GIZ, AFD, and the European Union. Prof. Nemer has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed scientific articles, over 50 conference papers, eight book chapters, and numerous technical reports. He is the principal investigator of several competitive research grants. His scientific contributions have been recognized internationally, and three species have been named in his honour in recognition of his contributions to entomology and biodiversity conservation.
