Visit of DAAD to Saint Joseph University of Beirut

Two senior representatives of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Bonn, Germany, Dr. Christian Hülshörster, Director for scholarships Southern Hemisphere, Mrs. Claudia Garbers, Team Lead for North Africa & Near East as well as Mrs. Carolina Teworte, First Secretary, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Beirut, and Mrs. Darim Khouja, visited USJ on December 4, 2025.

A meeting was held with Prof. Gina Abi Fadel Saad, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation; Mrs. Athina Makri Saab, Coordinator for Foreign Languages; and Mrs. Gladys Zein El-Hayek, Coordinator – Vice-Rectorate for International Relations, to discuss the possible re-establishment of a DAAD-sponsored lectureship.

The meeting was later extended to include Mr. Jihad Nammour, Academic Coordinator of the Arab Master’s Programme in Democracy and Human Rights, to explore potential future collaborations.
