Prof. Nayla Tabbara is president of the Adyan Foundation, which she co-founded in 2006 in Lebanon with Christian and Muslim founding members, and which received the Niwano Peace Prize in 2018. She is also co-founder of the Adyan Europe association, founded at the end of 2022 in Paris, and co-president of Religions for Peace, the largest worldwide interreligious organization. She is also a member of the advisory board of the Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies (Jordan). She is Professor of Religious Sciences and Islamic Studies at the Faculty of Religious Sciences of USJ, where she has taught since 1999. She holds a Doctorate in Religious Sciences from the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes and Saint Joseph University of Beirut. She is also a Muslim theologian, her reflection focusing on the theology of religious diversity, the theology of fragility, Islamic feminism, Islamic social responsibility, Quranic commentary, and Sufism. She also works on diversity-education programs in formal and non-formal school and university education, as well as on education for freedom of religion and belief. Between 2010 and 2020, she directed the Institute of Citizenship and Diversity Management at the Adyan Foundation. In 2019, she received the Renaissance Francaise prize for her career, as well as the Father Jacques Hamel Prize, the Ecritures et Spiritualites Prize, and the Prize of the Academy of Overseas Sciences for her book 'Islam Thought by a Woman.' In 2022, she received the Ibn Rushd Prize for freedom of thought, and in 2024, the second Religions for Peace prize for Women of Excellence in multireligious action. Between 2019 and 2024, she wrote the Islam column in the newspaper La Croix.
