Lena Beurkliam Kouyoumdjian has had a distinguished career in language education, pioneering the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) program at the Faculty of Languages, Saint Joseph University (USJ) in Beirut in 1994. As a dedicated full-time faculty member at FDLT, she has taught English Armenian at all levels, integrating technology to enhance her courses. Beyond teaching, Lena has contributed significantly to language education by editing teachers exams providing tutorial English courses at the Faculty of Translation.Her expertise in Teaching Approaches and Teacher Training, honed through workshops at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., has made her a valuable mentor for many trainees at USJ. Lenas commitment to improving educational practices extends to advocating for inclusivity, particularly through the development of materials tailored to diverse learners of English for Specific Purposes, in collaboration with faculty members.Lena's dedication to assessment has been evident in her long-standing involvement in evaluating English placement and proficiency tests, including assessing students' spoken and written outcomes across USJ's various campuses in Lebanon. Additionally, she has taught Translation English at other universities, enriching her experience and knowledge.With over 30 years of experience, Lena continues to engage with real-world applications to improve student engagement and actively volunteers in internal services at FDLT, USJ, contributing to the overall enhancement of the university.
