Dostoevsky tells us that paths always lead somewhere. What matters is not the direction the path takes, but the fact that this direction exists. At the University for All (UPT), this path is one of inclusion: it has existed since September 2018, when UPT made the promise to include all differences. This is how an inclusive university education program, adopted by Saint Joseph University of Beirut and initiated by the “Include” Association, came into being within an institution that had the courage to open its doors to each and every one.

The morning of Monday, July 13, 2026, was placed under the sign of celebration: the four students of the Class of 2026 received their diplomas in the presence of the Rector of Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Prof. François Boëdec, SJ, their families, and the partners of the inclusive education program.

In her welcoming speech, Audrey Nasr, a young graduate of the Class of 2026, took the floor to thank all those who made the path toward inclusion possible: administrators, professors, fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters, friends, and all those who, directly or indirectly, work with love to make the world a little fairer and much more beautiful.

The Director of the University for All, Prof. Roland Tomb, praised the students’ smiles, enthusiasm, and motivation, which are worth more than all the diplomas in the world. According to him, the graduation ceremony is not an end: it is a promise fulfilled that should prompt us to reflect. Reflection on inclusion should be accompanied by concrete actions, because inclusion is neither a moral stance nor a beautiful phrase to be displayed. Inclusion is a struggle, and it must be relentless.

The achievement of Sandro, Audrey, Mélanie, and Sara was warmly applauded. Only the language of silent things, of tears mingled with smiles, could express the emotion felt at that moment.
