Tony Karam received the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Major: Electrical Engineering) in 2001, the degree of Master of Engineering Management (MEM) in 2004, from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon. His Master thesis aimed at assessing the potential benefits from establishing integrated power generation & transmission capacity planning in the Northern Part of the Middle East (Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria & Turkey).He has been a part-time instructor at the Lebanese International University (LIU), Lebanon, since February 2015, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in both the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering & the Department of Industrial Engineering.He is currently pursuing his PhD studies in Electrical & Energy Engineering at Saint-Joseph University of Beirut, Lebanon. His PhD thesis revolves around designing, modeling and optimizing the penetration of renewable energy systems into a microgrid while making use of combined latent heat storage and compressed air energy storage systems.In addition to his academic involvement, Tony Karam has 17+ years of experience working as an electro-mechanical engineer handling installation, testing & commissioning and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems in high-end commercial building projects.His research interests include Energy Planning / Optimization, Energy Storage, Renewable Energy, Power System Analysis, Operations Research (OR), and Engineering Project Management.Tony Karam is also a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®), a Member International II in the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and a Project Management Professional (PMP®).
