Joseph MATTA, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Saint Joseph University, holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, obtained in 2001 from the University of Littoral Côte d’Opale (Academy of Lille, France). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, France, in 2002 received his HDR (Habilitation to Supervise Research) in 2019 from the University of Strasbourg, France.His applied research focuses on the development of new analytical methods, food safety, environmental impact, risk management, industrial innovation and technologies, and health. He is the author of more than 90 scientific articles and holds a patent.He heads the laboratories of the Industrial Research Institute and fosters active scientific collaboration between universities and industries.At the national level, he is a member of several scientific committees, including those of the Lebanese Standards Institution (LIBNOR), food quality, hazardous chemical management and industrial classification. At the international level, he serves as an expert for several organizations, such as the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO MENA STAR), and the Codex Alimentarius. He is also an active member of AOAC International (Association of Official Analytical Chemists) and the French Chemical Society. Additionally, he chaired the Technical Committee of the Scientific Association of Reference Laboratories of the European Federation of National Associations for Measurement, Testing, and Analysis.As a lead auditor, he works on food safety management systems (ISO 22000), laboratory competency for testing and calibration (ISO 17025) and environmental management (ISO 14001).Joseph MATTA has received several awards, including the first prize for technological innovation from the European Union in 2013 and the ENI CBC Med (European Cross Border Cooperation) award in 2022.
