Marie-Thérèse KHAIR BADAWI is a full Professor Researcher at St Joseph University, Beirut, where she teaches since 1978. Psychoanalyst, Training member of the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA), the European Federation of Psychoanalysis (EFP), and the Paris Psychoanalytic Society (SPP), she is also co-founder and the first President of the Lebanease Association for the Developpement of Psychoanalysis (ALDeP), the first IPA association (since January 2010) in an Arab speaking country. Furthermore, she is member of the French Rorshach Society and the Projective Methods, of the COWAP, a committee of the IPA, and a founder and active member of many associations in Lebanon. She lectured in international conferences and universities, in Lebanon and abroad (Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Tchèque Republic, Tunisia, Turquey, United Kingdom, USA…). Her main research axes and publications (among which the Revue Française de Psychanalyse and the International Journal of Psychoanalysis): psychoanalysis, transference/countertransference, sexuality (feminine particularly), masculinity and femininity, femininity and the maternal, trauma, incest, war… Some of her texts has been translated - from French – to Arabic, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Portugese in Portugal, Portugese in Brasil, and Persian. For one of them, the German version was awarded best publication of the decade 2005-2015 by Internationale Psychanalyse, the first Spanish version having been the subject of an article by Janine Puget, and the IPA made it a podcast on its site in French, English and Italian in 2020. Her PHD thesis published at l’Harmattan in Paris, 1986 “Le désir amputé, vécu sexuel de femmes libanaises” is considered by the UNESCO as the first reliable research on women sexuality in the Middle East.
