This slogan sums up the spirit of the School of Translators and Interpreters of Beirut (ETIB). In a time of standardized discourse and automated processes, we stand firm in our belief in the limitless creativity of the human translator. Translation is not merely the transfer of words between languages - it is an act of creation. It gives a text countless possible lives, each one rich with nuance and meaning. It carries emotion across borders, rekindles the imagination of the source, and safeguards the cultural diversity that is at the heart of our shared humanity.
Translating the world is our founding mission. At ETIB, we train sense-makers and dialogue-builders - professionals who connect people, ideas, and worlds. Our programs reach beyond technique to cultivate critical thinking, cultural sensitivity, and a deep understanding of the social, political, and human contexts that shape every text.
Rewriting the rules is how we face the future. It means questioning simplistic narratives about artificial intelligence and keeping the human voice at the center of the process. It means embracing an innovative, ethical, and tech-savvy pedagogy that shapes not only skilled language professionals but also engaged citizens who recognize their cultural and social responsibilities. Our graduates are prepared not to compete with machines but to collaborate with them, as thoughtful, creative, and responsible experts.
Since its creation in 1980, ETIB has built a reputation for excellence, forging close partnerships with leading institutions and earning international recognition as a trusted reference in the field.
Our graduates are valued for their versatility, intercultural intelligence, command of digital tools, and their ability to combine technical mastery with ethical integrity. They translate for major global organizations, interpret at high-level conferences, localize strategic content, and manage multilingual projects in demanding, fast-paced environments.
To the next generation of language professionals:
When you join ETIB, you join a network of more than 1,000 alumni who are making their mark worldwide, advancing the mission of bridging languages and cultures.
At ETIB, translation is not coding. It is decoding thought, turning words into bridges, and helping build a world without borders.
