Diagnostic Reference Level” (DRL), for both pediatric CT and mammography in radiology suites in Lebanon

The project consists of setting national DRLs for Pediatric CT and mammography, and optimizing the mammography process in Lebanon. Therefore: Diagnostic Reference Levels are an investigation tool determining whether optimization of radiation protection is needed in situations of patient medical exposure. Optimization is the process that pertains to preserving the quality of the diagnostic information (the image quality) produced upon corresponding medical examination while seeking to reduce patients’ radiation exposure to the maximum reasonable extent. This optimization process would limit the harmful risk associated with mammography procedures and therefore decrease the cancer risks after exposure to ionizing radiation.
