Scholarship Programs

The Confucius Institute at Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) offers a variety of scholarship programs to support students, teachers, and Chinese language learners in pursuing their academic and cultural studies in China.

These scholarships provide valuable opportunities to study the Chinese language, explore Chinese culture, and undertake degree or non-degree programs at partner universities. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

Each year, our partner university in China, Shenyang Normal University (SYNU), offers scholarship opportunities for eligible students from our Center to pursue their studies in China.

These scholarships are part of the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, established by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) to support the global development of Chinese language education and the professional growth of Chinese language teachers.

The scholarship provides outstanding students and current Chinese language teachers with the opportunity to study International Chinese Language Education and related programs at selected Chinese universities.

Eligible candidates may apply through authorized recommending institutions, including Confucius Institutes, HSK test centers, educational institutions, Chinese language teaching programs, professional associations, and Chinese diplomatic missions abroad.

Summer Camp to China

The Summer Camp to China is a two-week educational and cultural immersion program designed for students aged 14 to 30 who hold an HSK certificate. It offers participants the opportunity to practice Mandarin in a real-life Chinese-speaking environment, explore Chinese culture through engaging activities, and gain a deeper understanding of China.

The program also encourages cultural exchange, allowing Lebanese students to meet peers from different countries who share their passion for learning Chinese, build international friendships, broaden their global perspectives, and create lasting memories.

Chinese Bridge competition

The Chinese Bridge Competition is an international Chinese language and culture competition hosted by the Confucius Institute. It has become an important platform for students from around the world to enhance their Chinese language skills, deepen their understanding of China, and build connections with young people from different cultures.

The competition evaluates participants’ Chinese language proficiency, knowledge of China, cultural skills, and overall abilities. Students first take part in local preliminary rounds, with outstanding participants advancing to the semi-finals and finals held in China. The winner receives a scholarship to pursue studies in China.

Beyond the competition itself, participants have the opportunity to join cultural activities that promote cultural exchange, friendship, and a deeper appreciation of Chinese language and traditions.

Chinese Bridge Principals' Tour to China

This program provides school principals, education officials, Chinese language program directors, and professionals interested in developing Chinese language programs with the opportunity to visit China and gain firsthand insights into Chinese language education and culture.

Through educational seminars, cultural lectures, school visits, and exchanges with Chinese educators, participants explore China’s education system, discover best practices in Chinese language teaching, and build connections with local schools. The program also supports the development of Chinese language programs, encourages partnerships between Chinese and international schools, and promotes greater understanding of Chinese language and culture worldwide.
