Enseignant Profile

Roula began her studies in architecture at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, after which she shifted to religious studies where she was deeply interested in youth mentorship later in accompanying the dying. She completed her studies with a doctorate in practical theology from Saint Joseph University of Beirut. Concurrently, she studied anthropology at the Lebanese University, culminating in a doctorate in anthropology of religions from Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux 3 University, focusing on the culture and religions of the Arab and Muslim world. She is profoundly interested in the anthropology of the body, pain, and various religious anthropologies, influenced by her extensive human experience of physical suffering due to her illness.She teaches courses in anthropology, practical theology, and methodology at the Faculty of Religious Sciences at Saint Joseph University of Beirut. Until 2022, she held the position of coordinator of the master’s programs of the faculty and directed the Center for Islamic-Christian Documentation and Studies. In September 2022, she was appointed director of the Institute of Islamic-Christian Studies at USJ.
