Data protection

This course provides an understanding of the legal frameworks regulating the collection, processing, and storage of personal data in data science, with a focus on GDPR. The course covers various topics related to personal data protection including data privacy, risk management, and data security. Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to: • Understand the functions, key terms, and principles of data protection. • Comprehend legal and regulatory frameworks governing data protection such as the GDPR. • Identify data protection risks and implement a risk management framework to mitigate them. • Learn different cryptographic techniques and security measures used to protect personal data. • Recognize the lawful grounds for processing personal data and comply with regulations. Students will use these competencies during their academic journey and professional lives as data scientists in all tasks or activities related to personal data processing.
