Comparison between the remineralizing properties of a fluoride toothpaste and a fluoride calcium toothpaste: an in vitro study.
Description :
Recently the paradigm shifted from extension for prevention to prevention of extension of caries as a disease. Nowadays it is possible to detect carious lesions in early stages, allowing early implementation of preventive measures such as fluoride use (toothpaste, gel, varnish, mouth wash), CPP ACP and sealants that could arrest the lesion progress. However, there is a large choice of fluoride containing toothpastes available to the public, but which one should be prescribed to pediatric patients? Which one has better properties of remineralizing an initially demineralized lesion? To try answering this question two toothpastes are compared in this study, a fluoride toothpaste and a fluoride calcium toothpaste.
