My research focuses on the pan-Arab literary prizes awarded annually to novels, which serve both as institutions of literary legitimization as ideological enterprises that can be imbued with various intentions. My aim is to objectively and clearly examine the phenomenon of pan-Arab literary prizes awarded to novels from the perspective of the sociology of literature, while also analyzing the production and consumption conditions of contemporary Arab novels. I investigate contemporary Arab novels in terms of writing, publishing, distribution, translation, reception, and evaluation. Additionally, I seek to explore the interactions between the literary field and what Bourdieu calls the field of power, studying the relationships of complementarity, competition, and exchange among the agents of the Arab literary field across different Arab countries.
