A Lebanese-Brazilian movie director & producer, journalist & university professor. An activist in the world of filming, broadcasting lost cultures and untold stories and a combatant to give a voice to the unseen, hidden and unnoticed. Carmen Labaki was born in Lebanon in 1970, under the umbrella of Lebanese & Brazilian cultures and proficient in 5 languages (French, English, Arabic, Spanish & Portuguese). She started her career in France 2 Paris, France 3 Corsica & Télé Monte Carlo, before deciding to come back to Lebanon in 2001 and build her own House of Production. Owner of LUMENS Film Production that produced myriad documentaries & reports; with many award-winning careers that spans for more than 30 years, covering stories from “Armenians of Lebanon” a winning of Best Documentary Film Award 2005 at Arpa Int’l Film Festival in Hollywood, to “La France au Liban” in 2001 awarded at the Francophonie Summit, to many additional enumerable awards & recognitions worldwide, specifically in 2022 with the documentary film “The Cypriot Maronites” who won 6 awards for best documentary film (Amsterdam, Texas, Femme Actuelle…).
