Dr. Yara Chamoun obtained her general-medicine degree from the faculty of medicine of Saint Joseph University, then completed her psychiatry specialization training at USJ and at Sainte Anne Hospital in Paris. She is particularly interested in psychosomatic disorders and obtained a diploma in chronic pain from Paris Descartes University. She is passionate about public mental health and public policy, and obtained a diploma in the development and organization of mental-health services. In addition to being co-director of the community mental-health center at the Embrace Lebanon organization, she is a consultant for several NGOs, has her own private practice, and is a practicing physician at Mount Lebanon Hospital.
