Hady Zaccak is a Lebanese filmmaker and teacher-researcher at IESAV, Saint-Joseph University of Beirut. He is the author of more than 20 award-winning documentaries in several Arab and international festivals including: “Ya Omri” (2017, Jury Prize) “104 rides”) (Jury Prize, Malmo Arab Film Festival, Sweden, 2017), “Kamal Joumblatt, Witness and Martyr” (2015) (Francophonie Trophy for Best Documentary 2016), “Marcedes” (2011) (FIPRESCI International Critics’ Prize, Dubai International Film Festival, 2011), “A History Lesson” (2009) (1st prize, Arab Film Festival, Rotterdam 2010), “The War for Peace” (2007), “Refugees for Life” (2006)…In addition to his films, Zaccak is the author of two books on cinema: “The Last Projection, a biography of Cilama Tripoli” (2021) and “Lebanese Cinema, a Cinema’s Journey to the Unknown (1929-1996)” (1997).In 2022, Zaccak presented his exhibition “In this place: Reels of Beirut” (2022) at the Mina Image Centre in Beirut. This year, he will present his new feature film: “Cilama”. He is a PhD candidate at Université Paris I - Panthéon Sorbonne and Saint-Joseph University of Beirut.

HadyZaccak a troqué sa plume avec la caméra pour se servir du film documentaire afinde revisiter l’Histoire du Liban et de la region et préserver la Mémoire de son peuple, <o:p></o:p>Eneffet, il s’est essayé, auparavant, à l’écriture avec un ouvrage traitant del’histoire globale du Cinéma Libanais écrit en français et intitulé  <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/cinemalibanais.html" target="_blank">"Le cinémalibanais : itinéraire d'un cinéma vers l'inconnu"</a> (1929-1996) (édition Dar elMachreq, Beyrouth 1997) puis “<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-latin;background:white;mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA">al-ʿArḍ al-akẖīr:sīraẗ sīlamā Ṭarābulus” (The Last Film Screening, a biography ofCilama Tripoli)  (ZACFilms/dar el furat, Beyrouth, 2021).  Il a égalementréalisé deux documentaires sur le cinéma libanais : <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/LebanonthroughCinema.html" target="_blank">"Lebanonthrough cinema"</a> (2003) (le Liban à travers le cinéma) et <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/CinemaofwarinLebanon.html" target="_blank">"Cinemaof war in Lebanon"</a> (2003) (Cinéma de guerre au Liban).De 2000 à 2011, il filme la métamorphose progressive de Beyrouth et du Liban àtravers les périodes de paix et de guerre avec leurs répercussions sociales etenvironnementales à travers  les films : <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/BeirutPointsofview.html" target="_blank">"Beirut…Pointsof view"</a> (2000) (Beyrouth…Points de vue), <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/TheWarofpeace.html" target="_blank">"The War ofPeace"</a> (2007) (la guerre de la paix),  <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/TheOilspillinLebanon.html" target="_blank">"The Oil Spillin Lebanon" </a>(2007) (la marée noire au Liban) , <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/sunniechoesfromlebanon.html" target="_blank">"Shi'aEchoes from Lebanon"</a> (2007) (Echos chiites du Liban), <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/sunniechoesfromlebanon.html" target="_blank">"SunniEchoes from Lebanon"</a> (2008) (Echos sunnites du Liban), et  <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/taxibeirut.html" target="_blank">"Taxi Beirut"</a> (2011). Ce qui finit par le conduire naturellement à s’essayer d’écrire par le film,l’Histoire du Liban avec <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/ahistorylesson.html" target="_blank">"a HistoryLesson"</a> (une leçon d’Histoire) en 2009, <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/marcedes.html" target="_blank">"Marcedes"</a> en 2011 ,<a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/honeymoon58.html" target="_blank">"Honeymoon58"</a> (lune de miel 58) en 2013 et « Kamal Joumblatt, witnessand martyr » (Kamal Joumblatt, témoin et martyr) en 2015, "Ya Omri" (104 rides) en 2017 et "Cilama" en 2024. Sa  filmographie nous mène aussi à la découverte d’autres capitales depays arabes avec <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/SindbadinBaghdad.html" target="_blank">"Sindbad inBagdad"</a> (2003) (Sindbad à Bagdad) et<a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/taxisanaa.html" target="_blank"> "TaxiSana'a"</a> (2012) ainsi que la cause palestinienne avec <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/10001000Nights.html" target="_blank">"1000 and 1000Nights" </a>(les Mille et Mille Nuits) en 1999 et <a href="http://www.hadyzaccak.com/Refugeesforlife.html" target="_blank">"Refugees forlife"</a> (Réfugiés à Vie) en 2006. Le documentaire lui permet ainsi defaire revivre l’Histoire afin de lire le présent et lutter contre l’amnésie.<o:p></o:p>
