Dr. Carole G. Cherfan, MD is a Lebanese consultant ophthalmologist specializing in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She has been practicing at Beirut Eye & ENT Specialist Hospital since 2011 and has also served as a locum consultant at the American Hospital Dubai since 2021. Her clinical expertise includes amblyopia, congenital and adult strabismus, diplopia, cranial nerve palsies, pediatric cataracts, and advanced surgical correction of strabismus, including adjustable suture techniques in adults. Dr. Cherfan completed her Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Mayo Clinic (USA), following her residency in Ophthalmology and internship in Internal Medicine at the American University of Beirut Medical Center, where she also earned her Doctor of Medicine degree. In addition to her extensive clinical and surgical practice, she is actively involved in medical education, serving as an instructor in ophthalmology at both the Lebanese University and Hôtel-Dieu de France, where she trains residents in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. Dr. Cherfan is a board member of the Lebanese Ophthalmological Society and a member of several international professional societies, including AAPOS, WSPOS, and ISA. She has a strong academic profile with numerous peer-reviewed publications, international presentations, and contributions to research in pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, keratoconus, and glaucoma. Committed to community service, she has participated in multiple vision screening and humanitarian projects targeting underprivileged and refugee children in Lebanon. Her career reflects a strong dedication to patient care, academic excellence, and the advancement of pediatric eye health at both national and international levels.
