Born in Chekka - Lebanon on 14 July 1962. He has both the Lebanese and the Cypriot nationalities. He was ordained priest on 5th September 1987 and on 6th December 2008 Archbishop of the Maronites of Cyprus, on 28 October 2020 he was elected by the Synod, Maronite Archbishop of Tripoli - Lebanon. He currently holds the position of President of the Patriarchal Committee for Liturgical Affairs. He has been serving as Apostolic Visitor for the Maronites in Greece since 2018. He is also President of the Episcopal Committee for Catholic Schools within the Council of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops of Lebanon (APECL) (2025), and President of the Episcopal Committee for Ecumenical Affairs within the same Council (APECL) (2023). In addition, he is a member of several local and international episcopal councils and organizations, including APECL, AOCTS, CCEE, and COMECE. He is also a founding member of social and spiritual initiatives such as Al-Liqa’ (The Encounter), Forsa (Opportunity), SAT-7 Lebanon, as well as various formation and dialogue committees. Since 1992 Archbishop Soueif gives lectures at the Holy Spirit University in Kaslik - Faculty of Liturgy, at the Antonine University - the branch of Karmsaddeh; at the University of Sagesse, in addition to the University of Nicosia - The Faculty of Theology, he also gave seminars for doctoral students at the Sorbonne University – Paris. He participates in several seminars and conferences and had interventions and speeches of liturgical, humanitarian and Middle Easter aspects. He publishes articles related to the Oriental Ecclesiastical Studies, the history of the Maronite liturgical reform, the Eastern ecclesiastical studies, scientific liturgical and some spiritual and pastoral works, as well as topics on religious dialogue in Lebanon, Cyprus, the Middle East and Europe and the Social Teaching of the Church. He manages the following languages, written and spoken: Arabic, French, Italian, English, Greek, Spanish; he has knowledge of German and ancient languages: Syriac, Greek, Latin.
