This TU is part of the Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy, in semester 6. It is a mandatory course, which allows students to learn the normal development of logic thinking from infancy through childhood and its relation to language. It has a prerequisite: the course “Developmental Aspects of Math Cognition” in semester 4. Students will acquire the related terminology and will develop knowledge on the typical development of thought, they will be introduced to different definitions of intelligence and reasoning. They will learn the developmental benchmarks of the reasoning in symbolic play. They will explore the notions of heuristics, algorithm and inhibition in cognitive development. They will also learn the models of cognitive development. Students will be introduced to laws of logic, they will learn the different types of logical statements, the different types of inferences and the fallacies in reasoning.
