This TU is part of the Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy, in semester 6. It is a mandatory course, which allows students to: - develop a clinical approach to speech and language therapy intervention for individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing (children and adults). - acquire clinical knowledge that is essential for collaboration with the patient's family, among other stakeholders, and health care professionals, especially at the level of cochlear implant centers. This TU contributes to the development of the following competencies: • Carry out clinical screening, evaluation and speech and language therapy intervention. • Collaborate with the various HCPs in a manner adapted to their specialty and the context in order to establish a global intervention plan for the individual who is deaf and hard of hearing. • Inform and train professionals, parents and individuals in relation with the patients about the specificities of the hearing loss and the difficulties encountered and their implication for the patient's life with the aim of prevention and screening. • Establish and maintain a quality therapeutic relationship with the patients and their families.
