An in-vitro comparison of the accuracy of different scanning strategies for partial-arch digital impressions with different intra-oral scanners
Description :
This study will evaluate the trueness and precision of 4 different scanning strategies for partial-arch by scanning a maxillary partial-arch model (ANA-4V, Frasaco, Tettnang, Germany). Three IOS setups comprising hardware and software combinations will be used in this study: (TRIOS® 3, 3shape, Copenhagen, Denmark), Helios 600 (Eighteeth®, Changzhou, China), Heron (3Disc®, Herndon, VA 20170, USA). A master reference scan of the master model will be obtained from a desktop scan: (Ceramill Map 600; Amann Girrbach AG). The scan pattern will start at the second molar and will end at the midline of the dental arch. Scans of the partial-arch will be repeated 10 times per group (n = 10 samples) using 4 scanning strategies to obtain a total of 120 digital files. To evaluate the accuracy (trueness and precision) of all the IOS, the procedure that will be followed will be reported according to ISO 5727. The IOS’s scans will be converted to standard tessellation file (STL) and will be exported to a 3D software (Geomagic Control X) for comparison with the reference scan. The data generated will be collected and will be used for statistical analysis and results will be given.
