Comparison of Pulpotomy Outcomes Between a New Bioactive Cement and Biodentine in Mature Permanent Teeth with Symptomatic Irreversible Pulpitis: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Vital pulp therapies have traditionally been utilized in primary teeth and immature permanent teeth. However, the emergence of new bioactive materials has caused a shift in the prevailing approach, expanding the use of these therapies to permanent teeth with fully developed root apices. Numerous studies and systematic reviews have demonstrated comparable success rates between coronal pulpotomy using bioactive material and root canal therapy (RCT) in permanent teeth with pulpal pathosis. A randomized clinical trial aimed at comparing the outcomes of pulpotomy procedures using a new bioactive cement (K-MTA) and Biodentine in mature permanent teeth with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. The research is essential to assess the efficacy of K-MTA as an alternative to the well-established Biodentine. The study will enroll a sample of 40 participants, aged between 10 and 15 years old, with mature permanent teeth exhibiting symptomatic irreversible pulpitis, randomly assigned to two groups: one receiving K-MTA and the other receiving Biodentine. Clinical and radiographic assessments will be performed at designated intervals to evaluate treatment outcomes, including pain reduction and periapical changes. Statistical analysis will be employed to compare the results between the two groups.
