Leading life in Serenity and Grit

Mindfulness

Interest in mindfulness has grown in the last decade among academics and practitioners linking it to different aspects of stress reduction and well-being in clinical and non-clinical settings (Eby et al., 2017; Burton, 2016). Three aspects of mindfulness training at work are worth noting:

  • • Alleviate negative outcomes such as stress, depression, anxiety, and negative affect.
  • • Enhance general positive outcomes such as quality of life, psychological capital, and social functioning.
  • • Address job related outcomes, such as absenteeism, job burnout, work engagement, performance, and effective leadership.

Rise to Bloom and CFP have offered four webinars to introduce mindfulness to professors and staff. The success of these webinars has led to the creation of the Mindfulness club, where participants were able to:

  • • Learn to manage negative thoughts (ruminations)
  • • Develop skills to cope with the stress and difficulties of life
  • • Finding an inner balance
