Permaculture: Training of the Abdel Kader High School community 

During the academic year 2018-2019, our Chair collaborated with the Lycée Abdel Kader (LAK), as part of a project of training of the school community, to eco-citizenship and sustainable development, via permaculture. This project was launched in March 2018 with the teachers of the school, in the presence of the principal of the LAK, Mr. Daniel Pestourie and the team of the CEEDD Chair. A call for participation in the 2018-2019 project was then issued to teachers. Forty of them volunteered to take part in this adventure. A detailed presentation of the collaboration project was carried out in a second phase with the latter.

In order to make the LAK community aware of the importance of this approach, several training sessions for teachers, have been organized to equip them with knowledge and skills related to permaculture concepts and to anchor ecological values among participants.

Planting workshops with the students followed to allow the cultivation of plant species, according to the principles of permaculture, in containers that can be transposed to the new premises of the LAK next year.

These trainings led to the realization of more than twenty projects related to permaculture, by more than 300 students of the school, monitored and coached closely by trainers of the chair, and exhibited at the end of the school year at a student conference at the USJ.

Permaculture: Formation de la communauté scolaire du Lycée Abdel Kader

Durant l’année académique 2018-2019, notre Chaire a collaboré avec le Lycée Abdel Kader (LAK), dans le cadre d’un projet de formation de la communauté scolaire, à l’écocitoyenneté et au développement durable, via la permaculture. Ce projet a été lancé en mars 2018 auprès des enseignants de l’école, en présence du proviseur du LAK, M. Daniel Pestourie et de l’équipe de la Chaire CEEDD. Un appel à participation au projet 2018-2019 a été ensuite lancé auprès des enseignants. Une quarantaine d’entre eux s’est portée volontaire pour participer à cette aventure. Une présentation détaillée du projet de collaboration a été réalisée dans un second temps auprès de ces derniers.

Afin de sensibiliser la communauté du LAK à l’importance de cette approche, plusieurs sessions de formation auprès des enseignants, ont été organisées, afin de les doter de connaissances et de compétences liées aux concepts de la permaculture et d’ancrer des valeurs écologiques chez les participants.

Des ateliers de plantations avec les élèves ont suivi pour permettre la culture d’espèces végétales, selon les principes de la permaculture, dans des bacs transposables aux nouveaux locaux du LAK l’année prochaine.

Ces formations ont abouti à la réalisation de plus d’une vingtaine de projets liés à la permaculture, par plus de 300 élèves de l’école, suivis et coachés de près par des formateurs de la chaire, et exposés à la fin de l’année scolaire dans le cadre d’un congrès des élèves à l’USJ.
