Computer and Communications Engineering students from ESIB, accepted in Agrytech Accelerator Program. The FoodCheck team from ESIB has been selected by the Agrytech Accelerator Program. The team is formed by Anthony Aoun, Brian Baboch, Christian Gemayel, Georges Hachem, and Jerome Jalkh who are third year CCE students at ESIB.

After nights of hard work, they came up with a simple solution to monitor food transportation and storage seamlessly and in real time through a dedicated dashboard. They submitted their idea to the Agrytech Accelerator program that supports innovative startups or SMEs at an idea or early stage that uses engineering or technology to solve a challenge in the food and agriculture sector or a relevant solution that could be adapted to the sector. Being selected by the program, they will receive 3,300 USD grant during the first two-month period to build a minimum viable product.

The proposed solution consists of tracking and monitoring the food's conditions by deploying needed sensors in the areas where the food will be transported or stored. By using RFID technology, the user will be able to track the exact location of each box in the warehouses and all this data will be provided in real time through a digital dashboard. The students will design their product to help food companies implement higher standards of food safety via continuous and smart monitoring and in the same time ensure more transparency and control over the transportation process.

When asked about its adventure, the FoodCheck team replies: “After receiving an email about Alfa & Ericsson IOT Award Competition, we decided to participate, since we didn't want to miss any given opportunity. We weren't successful back then. Passionate about what we were doing, we participated in the Agrytech's Hackathon where, once again, we fell short. That never stopped us, and while we were there, a well-known food company encouraged us to go further. That was the main push for us to apply to Agrytech's accelerator program where we finally were accepted. Determined to make a change, we saw the rejections as motivation to grow further and thus improve. Not letting anything stop us, we're always moving forward, and that's just the beginning.”

FoodCheck team is willing to successfully achieve the first stage of the Agrytech Accelerator Program and access the next phases towards concept validation and incubation. We wish them the best of luck.
