The project ECOPLANTMED, “ECOlogical use of native PLANTs for environmental restoration and sustainable development in the MEDiterranean region”will hold its International Conference with the theme “Ecological Restoration in the Mediterranean region: Challenges and Opportunities” at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon on 14, 15 and 16 October 2015. The conference focuses on ecological restoration of Mediterranean type habitats and the importance of using native plants. Moreover, it intends to disseminate the results of the ECOPLANTMED project, evaluate the success of implemented Mediterranean restoration actions, discuss difficulties faced and lessons learnt, and highlight the importance of using native plants for restoration. It will bring together and exchange experience among scientists, public authorities and development agencies dealing with environmental management and plant genetic resources management, plant production sector, landscape architects, environmental educators, and environmental organisations.
