Since the onset of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, the General Campus Ministry of the Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) and the NGO Al Mazeed (Magis), which is affiliated with USJ, have swiftly mobilized to assist displaced families.

We are currently sheltering five families at the Jesuit community in Bikfaya, where we are working to meet their basic needs. In collaboration with the Municipality of Bikfaya, we are also assisting nearly 300 additional people who have recently arrived from southern Lebanon and are being housed in local public schools.

Thanks to the support of local organizations like L’Œuvre d’Orient, Dr. Raëd Lattouf, and the NGO Kelna Ayleh, we have been able to distribute hot meals, mattresses, and wool blankets, which are critical as the winter season draws near.

Beyond addressing immediate material needs, we are also focusing on emotional support for children and teenagers, many of whom have arrived deeply traumatized. With the help of USJ’s General Campus Ministry and Al Mazeed, our volunteer teams organize daily creative workshops to offer a safe and nurturing environment for expression and healing. While formal psychosocial support is still in its early stages, we provide activities for younger children and artistic expression workshops for teenagers, with the goal of helping them regain a sense of safety.

We are also planning to introduce informal classes in the coming weeks to ensure that these children continue their education during this difficult time. This comprehensive support, both material and emotional, is crucial to helping them find stability and normalcy.

In addition, we engage adults in community projects and provide 150 hot meals daily to displaced families in Zouk Mikhael.

Your support is vital in helping us sustain and expand our efforts for displaced families. Together, we can provide not only essential resources but also hope for recovery and resilience.
