Embarking on an exchange program to pursue studies in Madrid has completely changed my life. It taught me how to become an adult, how to face problems and how to solve them. It taught me also how to navigate the challenges of daily life: taking care of myself, making my own food, doing my own laundry. An invaluable lesson in independence and survival mode.
Though I have been in this wonderful city for a mere five months, it really feels like five years have elapsed. Having dedicated two years to studying Spanish, this sojourn provided the opportunity to put theory into practice. From initially losing my way in the labyrinthine streets of Madrid, I now find myself guiding whoever is lost.
I still remember the first day I came to Madrid as if it was yesterday. The bustling metro, a lifeline in this vibrant city, became a familiar melody. In the quiet moments of that first week, Spanish conversations echoed in my mind, initially resembling gibberish, yet gradually turning into linguistic comprehension.
Touring Europe was a dream come true. I have made plenty of friends from different parts of the world. This wonderful experience has allowed me to grow and evolve. Words genuinely cannot express my feelings. My journey to Spain has been an extraordinary odyssey, an amazing experience facilitated by the invaluable opportunity granted to me by USJ. For this, I am profoundly grateful.
