Under the scope of the course “Gestion de Projets”, USJ students enrolled for the Master “Traducteur de Conference” worked on a project with the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) where they translated a report on the impact of conflict on child marriage and adolescent fertility.
Bouthaina El Hakim, a graduate student currently enrolled in the aforementioned Master, was later selected by the ESCWA to do an internship in translation, upon the fulfillment of her assignment with the ESCWA team. Given the situation due to the pandemic, Bouthaina had to complete the terms of her internship remotely, as challenging as this might seem, given the nature of her work which required constant follow-up with the team members. This fact did not stop Bouthaina from completing her internship efficiently and to leave a remarkable impression on the ESCWA team, that eventually offered her a job as a translator as of January 2021.
