Roger Sabbagh (ESIB '75) believes that it is imperative to help students pursue higher education. He has chosen to do so by launching, along with the Rector of Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ), Prof. Salim Daccache s.j., the Roger Sabbagh Scholarship Fund, within the framework of the fundraising campaign “Une promo, une bourse”, instigated by the Federation of Alumni Associations of USJ and the USJ Foundation.

The beneficiaries of the Fund will be selected among ESIB students, following a twofold academic and social criterion, from the list of candidates submitted by the Department of Social Services.

Roger Sabbagh finds this outpouring of solidarity towards students and ESIB normal. He says, “this great engineering school is the cornerstone of my career which spans over 40 years. When you receive help, you would like to help in a similar way.”

When asked what his message to students would be in these tough times, Roger Sabbagh answers without hesitation: “You have to persevere, never give up and keep trying, because success will always come from hard work.”

He concludes: “The new generation is facing far greater challenges than those of my generation. So, I wish them courage and perseverance.”
