The Philip Salem Center (PSC) for Lebanese Political Studies is dedicated to advancing a more inclusive, diverse, and democratic Lebanon through a bold and comprehensive agenda. Its key objectives include:
1. Shaping Policy-Making: Lebanon urgently requires political, social, and economic reforms. PSC aims to equip decision-makers with practical, evidence-based solutions to address major obstacles to stability and peace.
2. Driving Political Change and Reforms: Despite multiple upheavals in the past decade, Lebanon’s progress has been hindered by a corrupt elite. PSC seeks to build on the momentum of past uprisings to drive political change and implement necessary reforms.
3. Consolidating the Lebanese Identity: By exploring the traditions and norms that define the Lebanese identity, PSC aims to strengthen national identity and foster a strong sense of citizenship.
4. Promoting Diversity, Inclusivity, and Representation: Lebanon’s rich religious and cultural diversity is at the heart of its identity. PSC promotes governance that reflects this diversity and ensures equitable representation and inclusivity.
5. Promoting Peace and Cooperation: Drawing inspiration from the 1943 National Pact, PSC prioritizes cooperation as a foundation for lasting peace and positions Lebanon as a mediator in regional conflicts.
These objectives highlight PSC’s commitment to fostering positive change and reinforcing the values enshrined in Lebanon’s constitution.
How might these efforts contribute to shaping a better future for Lebanon?
